<div>Currently I am preparing for a kidney transplant, a life-saving procedure that will give me a second chance at health. While the surgery itself is covered, the recovery period afterward is long, intensive, and not fully supported by insurance or public assistance.

<div>After a kidney transplant, patients require strict post-transplant care, especially during the first 3–6 months, to prevent infection, organ rejection, and complications. During this time, I will not be able to safely manage daily tasks on my own.

<div>Post-transplant recovery requires trained, ongoing assistance. While my sons are supportive, they do not have the medical experience needed for this level of care, and I will need professional support during recovery.

<div>A clean, well-maintained home is medically necessary after a kidney transplant. I have a lovely PSW but they only assist me with light work for 45 minutes a day, 2 times per week, and I will need more than that.

<div><em>Exposure to germs, fatigue, or missed medications can seriously threaten the success of the transplant</em>. Proper home care and housekeeping are essential parts of recovery, not luxuries.
