In 2024, my home was severely damaged by storms. What followed has been a long and exhausting battle with my insurance company, USAA. Instead of helping me get back on my feet, they delayed my claim for months, put my needs on the back burner, and are now refusing to pay the full market value for the repairs I desperately need. My kitchen is down to the studs, and my master bathroom is unusable. Because of this, my beloved dogs have had to stay at my parents’ house for two years—I’ve only seen them a handful of times in that period, and it breaks my heart every day.

USAA has dragged out my claim so long that they’re now saying they won’t have to pay anything after May 3rd, due to a two-year claim limit. I’ve had to fight them on every issue: roof damage, electrical problems, flooring, water filtration, fixtures, labor costs, storage, moving expenses, and more. The stress has been overwhelming. I’ve already dipped into my retirement savings just to pay the workmen and keep things moving, but it’s not enough. I just want my house back in usable order and to bring my boys (my dogs) home where they belong.

Every dollar would help me. I have never been in a situation like this before, and after living in a hotel for almost 18 months due to USAA’s delays, I just want to be in my home with a functioning kitchen and master bathroom, without fear of having further issues.
