Support Monique's Move to a Better Future

Hi everyone, my name is Monique. I’m reaching out with a humble heart, asking for help to make a life-changing move for my family. By the grace of God, I’ve found a new apartment that’s affordable, safe, and gives us a real chance to breathe again — but I need a little help to make it happen before the opportunity slips away.

Like so many renters today, I’ve been struggling under the weight of sky-high housing costs. Rent prices have become higher than most mortgages, and moving into a new place often means coming up with thousands of dollars up front — first month, security deposit, application fees, and most of the time a realtor’s fee — just for the chance to start fresh.

Right now, I pay $3,500 a month plus utilities, bills and other costs of living which has become completely unsustainable. When I first moved in, my boyfriend was with us. But just four months later, he passed away unexpectedly. My entire world — and my children’s — shattered and broken forever. He was my soul mate and a wonderful father to my son and our daughter. I honestly didn’t know how I was going to go on. By the strength given to me by both of my children, I had to return to work less than two weeks after his passing. I had no other choice. It was sink or swim. I receive no government assistance or outside support, only the kindness of a few coworkers who helped me during that dark time.

The amazing group of Widowed Not Alone has been such a blessing. They have helped me pay off some of my bills when times were especially difficult. I am forever grateful for their support. Not only did they help me financially but emotionally and mentally. No one knows better than what you’ve been through than the people who have gone through it themselves.

Since that horrible morning on April 30th 2023, I’ve been holding everything together on my own — working six-seven days a week, sacrificing rest, and missing moments with my kids just to keep a roof over our heads. I’ve done everything I can, but I’ve reached a point where this situation just isn’t sustainable anymore. I’m exhausted, physically and emotionally, and I know I need to make a change for my family’s future.

Recently, a kind woman — a widow herself — offered me an amazing opportunity. She’s willing to rent to me under fair and compassionate terms. Her understanding has given me hope again. I just need help coming up with the move-in costs so I can finally step into a new chapter.

I’ve always been independent and never one to ask for help, but I know I can’t do this alone. I’m doing this for my children — to give them stability, peace, and a home where we can start healing and living again, not just surviving.

Any amount you can contribute will go directly toward:
• The deposit and initial move-in costs for the new place
• Moving expenses

If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign would still mean the world to me. Every bit of support helps bring us one step closer to a better life.

From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me take this step toward a new beginning.

With gratitude,
Monique
