Hi everyone,
My name is Emily Walton, and I would like to tell you about a volunteering opportunity I have accepted for June 2026, but I need your support.
I am incredibly excited (and a bit nervous!) to be travelling to Tanzania as part of an expedition group, organised by my school, the only catch is, I need to raise all the money myself. Before you leave my page, please let me tell you about this worthy cause.
The purpose of my trip and my time (3 weeks) in Tanzania, is to support the Kilimanjaro Young Girls in Need (KYGN) Programme. A project that was established in 2006 by a lady called Annamaria Kanondo. The programme provides education and schooling, along with school buildings and facilities, for some of the poorest children in the region, giving them a chance to escape poverty. The school works alongside villages and local authorities to protect at-risk families.
This opportunity is a once-in-a-lifetime experience where I will be able to make a real direct impact and difference to help and support the children and their families.
I want to learn more about the Tanzanian culture and the local wildlife, and I look forward to climbing Mount Meru, Africa’s second-highest mountain during my ‘down time’!
During this trip and experience I plan to help the children as much as I can, whilst developing my own knowledge and skills in leadership, communication, budgeting and compassion.
Please help me to raise the funds needed for this trip. I have been given a target of £4000. I plan to do fundraising activities to help me reach my target. However, if you can support me, even with a small donation, I would be incredibly grateful for your support and kindness.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

To give you a bit of context Kilimanjaro Young Girls in Need is a private and secondary school set up by Annamaria Kanondo, which is school based in a region of Tanzania. It was set up in 2006 to provide an education for some of the poorest children in the role giving them a chance to escape poverty. The school works alongside villages and local authorities to protect at-risk families. Over the last 19 years KYGN has been able to expanding within itself and it now ow host 900 students.
During the trip, I’ll be:
• Supporting local communities and helping with sustainable projects that make a real difference.
• Learning about Tanzanian culture, landscapes, and wildlife — including seeing the Big 5 in their natural habitat.
• Developing leadership, budgeting, and teamwork skills that will stay with me for life.
To make this dream a reality, I need to raise £4100 to help cover the costs of the project phase and travel.
I’m planning lots of fundraising activities between now and 2026, but any donation — big or small — would mean the world to me. Every pound gets me one step closer to making this dream a reality and helping others along the way.
Your support — big or small — would mean the world to me. Every donation helps bring me closer to making a positive impact and representing our school community abroad.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word!
Thank you so much for your kindness and encouragement — together we can make this journey unforgettable ❤️
