A Message from Jamal:

My name is Jamal Hassan Abu Shaar. I am a husband and father living with my small family in Gaza, Palestine. I have a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter and a four-month-old son. Like any father in this world, my greatest wish is to keep my family safe and secure a dignified future for them. My father has been ill with cancer for two years.

My family includes:

Since October 7, our lives have been completely shattered. What we have endured is indescribable: constant fear, hunger, displacement, and loss. We have survived relentless airstrikes, lost our homes, and every day is a battle to find food, clean water, and safe shelter. We live day by day, praying to God to make it through each night.

After our home in Rafah was destroyed, we lost everything we owned. Now, all we have left is a flimsy, tattered tent that offers no protection from the scorching heat of the day or the bitter cold of the night. If no one stands by us, we will spend the rest of our lives trapped in this tent, suffering without safety, dignity, or hope for our children's future.

This is the hardest letter I have ever written. Asking for help is never easy, but we no longer have a choice. We are exhausted, we are broken, and we cannot survive this alone.

This campaign has two immediate goals:

1. To raise funds to cover our daily survival needs—food, clean water, medicine, and shelter to keep my pregnant wife and baby alive.

2. To raise enough money to leave Gaza and start a new life.

The funds will be used to provide basic needs: food, clean drinking water, clothing, and medical care for my family. A portion of each donation will go toward securing our evacuation when the opportunity arises—so that I can give my child a life where he doesn't sleep hungry or scared every night.
