As many of you know, just days before the pandemic struck in 2020, my wife, Sassy, traveled to San Francisco for a conference. Being immuno-compromised, it was not safe for her to fly back during the lockdown. Before it was safe for her to travel again, she was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma in her skull. She has been battling cancer at UCSF out in San Francisco ever since. During that time, we have lived on opposite coasts, visiting each other when time and treatment allowed. Earlier this month, I heard the words that nobody with a loved one engaged in that fight wants to ever hear: "It's time." She will be going into hospice soon, and I will be going out there so that we will be together in her final months. In order to make that happen, I will be packing up our apartment in Salem, MA, and putting everything into storage. After that, I will load up the car with essentials, including our dog, Georgia, and drive cross-country.
From storage, to moving van rental, to expenses for the trip, this is all outside our current means. If you are able, please help me get to SF, so that I can hold her hand again during this ordeal.
