Greetings fellow Berners,
I am an Afro-Latina #BernieBro and one of the Delegate candidates for Bernie in Congressional District 15 in New York State. I am also a formerly incarcerated criminal justice reform advocate that fights to ensure that people with convictions have a voice in our democracy. I decided to start this crowdfunding campaign because I want to travel to Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, Texas, and other states to help Bernie's campaign with not only Spanish speaking voters but to also ensure that formerly incarcerated people (who are eligible to vote) know what steps they must take to be able to vote, by knocking on doors, canvassing in heavily populated areas, volunteering at events and anything else they might need.
I need funds to cover travel costs, lodging, food, car rentals, gas, and other essentials while I travel to volunteer in as many states as possible especially in states with high Latino populations!
This is really hard for me to do because I hate having to ask anyone for help especially when it comes to money, but someone reminded me that I am doing this for US, not just myself. I feel compelled to go to help organize for Bernie because this is our moment and our movement! I can’t sit back any longer! I don’t want to say I could have done more but didn't because I couldn't afford to do so!
Help me help us defeat the most corrupt president in the history of our country, we must ensure that Bernie Sanders is the nominee and that we defeat Donald Trump! Your donation will make it possible for me to help the campaign with Spanish speaking and formerly incarcerated voters by canvassing and having meaningful conversations with voters.

My name is Leyla Martinez, I'm a first-generation American. The daughter of Dominican immigrants, I was raised by a single mother who came here illegally in search of the American Dream. I am also a single mother myself and a recent graduate of Columbia University.
I've been voting since I turned 18 but I'll be honest with you I was not very politically active until the 2016 election, someone showed me a video compilation of Bernie's speeches over 40 years and I realized that he had been fighting for me and people like me since before I was born, I've been in love with him ever since!
He lit a fire in me that I didn't know was there, I even attended a training that teaches people the basics about running for office because I've been considering throwing my hat in the ring at the local level.
