This is me… Tony Hindle. Technically it’s David Anthony Hindle, but I like “Tony”. As well as being a small business owner in London, Ontario for the past 22 years, I am also a pilot, a board member of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA#75), and a board member / volunteer with the Civil Air Search And Rescue Association (CASARA London). Plus, I really love a good adventure!

I have always made a commitment to myself of pushing my limits and doing remarkable things. This year is no exception. On October 23, 2025, I will embark on an adventure that will take me to Mount Everest Base Camp! This 19 day / 170 km hike will certainly be testing my strength and perseverance. Reaching an altitude just over 18 000’, where the oxygen content is only 1/2 of that in London at 912’, my cardiovascular system will surely be put to the test. Daily temperatures ranging from 5˚c to -20˚c ensure that this “walk in the park” is anything but.

Why would I put myself through this? Apart from being my childhood dream of reaching the summit of Everest (perhaps someday), I am raising funds for the ongoing operations of London Air Patrol Inc. / CASARA London. We really need your help! While the Canadian Armed Forces cover our direct training costs, our facility at CYXU (London International Airport) and overhead costs are not. We rely on donations from the communities that we serve to keep our members trained and ready for deployment. We are truly grateful to all those who have supported us in the past, and continue continue to support us going forward.

CASARA London is a group of about 25 dedicated volunteers whose primary objective is to assist 424 Squadron at CFB Trenton. We help with their training exercises as well as provide qualified spotters aboard the C-130 Hercules when there are emergency call-outs. Additionally, we have access to a member’s Cessna that we use for locating ELTs/ EPIRBs / PLBs. These emergency locating transmitters are used by pilots, boaters, and even hikers who get lost or require emergency assistance. The specialized equipment onboard our plane will help pinpoint the source of the beacon. Once GPS coordinates have been acquired we can assess and relay all relevant scene information directly to 424 Squadron, thereby greatly reducing the taxpayer’s overall cost of the rescue operation. CASARA London fulfills the organization’s second mandate by promoting aviation safety to various educational and pilot groups throughout the area. CASARA is an organization that we hope you will never have to rely on, but if you do run into any trouble on your next adventure, you can rest assured that CASARA will be one of the first to get the call.

Every donation helps; big or small. I want to be clear that all expenses incurred on this trip will be paid by me, meaning that 100% of your donation will go directly to CASARA London. Official tax receipts will be provided by GoFundMe / PayPal. My fundraising goal is $10 000. This amount will help ensure that CASARA London remains ready to serve those in need, for the coming years.
Thank you so much!
