On October 18th, I’m taking on an IRONMAN 70.3 in Málaga to raise money for the Dementia Support Group in San Luis de Sabinillas.

The group is run by a small team of dedicated local women who volunteer their time to support older people affected by dementia, Alzheimer’s, serious illness or financial hardship. Some have no family nearby to help them and face not only practical challenges, but also profound loneliness and isolation.

The group steps in wherever help is most needed.

They buy food, arrange transport, pay urgent utility bills, find suitable carers, and provide essential equipment such as wheelchairs and mobility aids. Sometimes, they simply offer friendship and spend time with someone who would otherwise be alone.

Among the people they support are Shay, who is living with advanced dementia, and John, who lost both legs following serious complications from diabetes. Their different stories show how much practical help and human connection can matter when life changes completely.

Let's turn some sweat into support!

An IRONMAN 70.3 covers 113 km: a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride and a 21.1 km run. I want to use this challenge to give something back and help the group continue its work.

All money raised will be transferred directly to the group’s official bank account and used to benefit the people they support.
