Hi my name is Mike Brideau and I've been accepted to be a "Volunteer" Off-Ice Official for this years World Juniors in Ottawa.

With this comes a healthy price tag to volunteer. I'm responsible for all expenses including: travel, accommodations, meals, etc.

I'm reaching out for some financial assistance in order to go participate in this great opportunity.

Back in 2006 my family and friends along with the North Bay community helped me get to the Hockey Hall of Fame with myself being named Lay's Canada's Greatest Hockey Fan. Although no financial support was needed for that all of you helped support me in that experience.

I've been involved in the North Bay hockey community since moving here in 1999. It started out with the Hockey For Beginners Program along with being President of North Bay Minor Hockey. I then got involved in West Ferris Minor Hockey (Now North Bay Minor Hockey) has a coach, and Executive member.

From there I've been involved with the North Bay Trappers AAA Association on and off for 16 years has a Manager. I was involved with the North Bay Ice Boltz, now the North Bay Junior Lakers has a coach, manager and Executive Member for 10 years in which the last 3 years I was President.

I'm currently the Manager of the North Bay Trappers U18AAA team along with being an Off-Ice Official for the North Bay Battalion and PA Announcer for the Powassan Voodoos.

I've been asked plenty of times why do I do it? I've never done this for financial gain...I do it because I love the game of hockey and I hope that I've been able to make a difference in some of the players and parents that I've met along the way.

I'll be driving to Ottawa Dec 19th and returning home on Dec 22 (prelimary games) and then return on Christmas Day until January 3.

Like i mentioned above, I would be using the funds to cover costs (hotels, meals, travel) associated with this opportunity that has been given to me.

Any funds not used will be donated to Kids Sport North Bay.
