Hi everyone,
This is not an easy thing for me to write, but I wanted to be honest and ask for some help.
My cousin is getting married abroad, and I would love nothing more than to be there on one of the most important days of his life.
He is far more than just my cousin. He's one of my best friends, and he’s actually asked me to be his best man, which means more to me than I can put into words.
Over the last few years, I've spent a lot of time with him. Sometimes I would volunteer to help him with work, not because I had to, but because I genuinely enjoyed spending time with him. We'd go on long road trips together to pick up supplies from places like Southampton, Birmingham, and wherever else the job took us. Looking back, those journeys are some of my favourite memories. We'd spend hours talking, laughing, listening to music, and just enjoying each other's company.
During Covid, when I was living alone in Aberystwyth, I struggled badly with loneliness. While the world felt like it had stopped and I was stuck on my own, he was there. We spent countless hours playing video games together, and those evenings gave me something to look forward to when some days felt incredibly difficult.
More recently, when I was hospitalised during one of the darkest periods of my life, he was there for me again. He checked in, supported me, and reminded me that I wasn't facing everything alone. There have been moments where I've genuinely wondered how I would have got through things without him. His friendship has been a constant source of strength in my life, and I am incredibly grateful for him.
That's why being at his wedding means so much to me. For years he has shown up for me during some of the hardest moments of my life, and I would love the chance to show up for him on one of the happiest days of his.
Flights can often cost upwards of £1,500, but I’ve set my GoFundMe target at £1,200 to try and make this as achievable as possible. I am saving as hard as I possibly can, but after being off work for the past month due to personal struggles, my finances have taken a significant hit. The reality is that I simply won't be able to afford the flight on my own.
If anyone feels able to contribute, no matter how small the amount, it would mean the world to me. Every contribution would bring me one step closer to being there to celebrate someone who has had such a profound impact on my life.
Please don't feel any pressure whatsoever. Even taking the time to read this means a lot to me.
As a small way of saying thank you, I'd love to give something back:
• Anyone who donates £10 or more will receive a personal video message from me thanking them for their support.
• Anyone who donates £20 or more will receive an exclusive copy of "Promise Me Today", an unreleased song from my upcoming album, before anyone else gets to hear it.
• And for a bit of fun, the highest donor by the closing date will receive my guitar, worth around £100, provided they live in the UK (sadly postage abroad would cost more than I can afford!).
Thank you so much for reading, and for helping me try to be there for someone who has spent years being there for me.
