After being homeless for over two and a half years, I am so proud to share that I recently took possession of my very own studio apartment. This is a huge step forward for me, and I am filled with hope and gratitude as I begin this new chapter. Having a place to call home means everything, but starting from scratch also comes with its own set of challenges.
Right now, I need help furnishing my new space with the basics that make a house feel like a home. I’m hoping to get essentials like pillows and sheets for my bed, a chair or something comfortable for a guest to sit on, dinnerware and glassware to eat and drink with, pots, pans, and utensils to cook meals, a bathmat for when I step out of the shower, cleaning supplies, and a laundry basket for my clothes. These are the everyday items that will help me settle in and truly feel at home.
Over the last year or so, I have been so lucky to receive help from some wonderful people, and I am deeply grateful for the support I’ve had over the past five years. Mental health has been a challenge for me, but I am re-enrolled in therapy and back in a support group. If there is anything you can do to help, I would be ever so grateful. Your support will help me build a safe, comfortable space and continue moving forward on my journey.
