I Have Volunteered to Drive an Ambulance to Kyiv as part of the Ukraine Focus Volunteer Ambulance Corps

This cause is personal to me. I have several Ukrainian friends, I have been to Ukraine a few times, and after the war broke out in 2022 a Ukrainian family of four came to live with me in my home for six months. They are still in Portugal, thriving, and watching the girls grow up has been amazing. Being able to help in that way was a tremendous experience for me (and they're still some of the most awesome people I know).

Now I've found another tangible way to help in a real way, with a reputable organisation.

There is a critical need for ambulances, and each vehicle can save an estimated 250 lives per month.

Ukraine is fighting for its survival, and frontline medical teams face a severe shortage of ambulances. Ambulances are frequently the focus of attacks on the front lines and each missing vehicle means slower evacuations, longer waits for wounded civilians and defenders, and lives that cannot be saved in time.

Ukraine Focus helps fill this gap. As a respected US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, they deliver vehicles that are procured in the European Union, and they cover the cost of the ambulance, insurance, inspections, and repairs. They have already delivered nearly 400 ambulances, each saving hundreds of lives per month. On the front line, an ambulance lasts only about 90 days; the need for replacements is constant.

As a volunteer, I am personally covering 100% of my own travel and personal expenses for this mission. This ensures that every single dollar raised goes directly to the procurement and delivery of the ambulances and critical medical aid.
