Help Me Fight for Justice for My Son Bronson — A Child With

Donation protected
My name is Gabriela, and I am the mother of Bronson, a sweet and loving child with Autism, ADHD, speech delay, echolalia, and sensory needs.

For years, I have been fighting alone to protect him from the abuse he suffered inside his special education classroom in Christian County Board of Education (formerly Christian County Public Schools).

This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write — but I’m doing it because my son deserves to be heard. And because what happened to him is still happening to other children who cannot speak for themselves.

What Happened to My Son

When Bronson attended Christian County Public Schools from 2018–2021. He went from being a happy child who loved school to a terrified little boy who cried at night saying:
“No school, Mommy… no more restraining Bronson… no more locking Bronson in the bathroom.”

I didn’t understand what was happening until he began coming home with:
  • Bruises
  • Scratches
  • Emotional distress
  • Fear of school and begged me to not send him back

When I asked for incident reports, I was ignored — or given reports that were incomplete or inaccurate.

When a bus aide pulled Bronson’s ear, I asked to see the video. I was denied.

When I raised concerns, the district retaliated — even against my younger son (Max), who also has autism.

I started documenting everything. There are audio recordings. And what I discovered broke me.

The Recordings That Changed Everything
I knew something was wrong and I needed to find out to best help and protect my son. Listening to the audios broke me because what you can hear in the audios is horrifying:

  • Staff yelling at children
  • Staff mocking and bullying them
  • Staff threatening restraint and they did.
  • Staff locking Bronson in a bathroom while he cried and begged to be let out
  • Staff ignoring him when he said “I love you”
  • Staff discussing how to write reports to blame him
  • Staff encouraging other children to shame him and others

These are abusive adults harming disabled children.
⚖️ The System Failed Us
  • I filed complaints.
  • I attended every ARC meeting.
  • I begged for help.
  • I provided evidence.
  • I followed every legal step.
But:
• The district denied wrongdoing
• CPS marked the case “unsubstantiated”
• The hearing officer dismissed key evidence
• The state agency (KDE) mishandled my exhibits
• EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN APPEALS BOARD (ECAB) reviewed an incomplete record.

For seven years, I have been fighting this alone — from the school level, to the state level, and now in federal court.

Where We Are Now
I am now pursuing federal action to correct the record and hold the district accountable — not only for Bronson, but for the other children who suffered the same abuse. But I cannot do this without help. The federal judge has made it clear that I cannot represent my son at the federal level. Only a licensed attorney can appear on Bronson’s behalf. In DN 53, the Court explained that if no attorney enters an appearance by April 17, 2026, Bronson’s case will be dismissed. I am doing everything I can to secure counsel before that deadline, but the cost is more than I can manage on my own. I have spoken to attorneys who are willing to consider taking the case, but the fees are significant and I simply can't afford it:

  • At least 15 hours just to review the file ($5,250)
  • Plus a retainer of at least $5,000
  • And the minimum hourly fee is $350

I have spent hundreds of hours organizing evidence, writing briefs, and advocating — all while caring for my children, working, cooking, attending therapies, and trying to keep our lives stable.

I am exhausted, but I will never stop fighting for my son.

Why I’m Asking for Help?
Your support will help me:
✔️ Cover legal fees for the federal case
✔️ Pay for therapy and tutoring Bronson still needs
✔️ Continue fighting for accountability to make things right not just for Bronson but also for other children who had suffered the same abuse.
