Join us and support the construction of a small eco-village in Nepal! Himshikhar Foundation together with friends from around the world is raising funds for our collective dream to come true - building an educational organic farm, workshop room and a small cottage for international volunteers (we hope also for you!)
The project of quite incredible! If you dreamed of a trip to the Himalayas and / or you support activities for sustainable and regenerative agriculture and ecotourism (for Nepal it is not too late yet!), please support this project with just a few dollars which really make a difference in Nepal.
You will contribute not only to the preservation of biodiversity and indigenous culture in one of the last such places in the world, but you can also join the team creating your own wonderful asylum in the most beautiful mountains on the planet.
HImshikhar Foundation (HIMSFA)
Intro
Himshikhar Foundation is a rare find. It‘s not often in this world that a genuine opportunity to do something good presents itself. The HIMSFA provides just such a chance for donors to help Suranjan Koirala establish a thriving organic farming and eco tourism community in his village Basantapur, near Kathmandu, Nepal. And in uber-friendly Nepal, donors will become loved community members and gain the immense satisfaction of watching the village grow and prosper.
Now for those who like a long read, a complete description of the HIMSFA proposal can be found here. Otherwise, read the summary below.
Vision
-Create a healthy and sustainable environment free of chemical pesticides and fertilizers
-Train and educate local farmers on organic farming practices
-Support local rural populations by showing the economic potential and opportunities that are available in the communities
-Provide basic infrastructure to local communities for sustainable growth and development
-Create a number of eco friendly projects
-Organize a new approach to womens` empowerment, education and child development.
-Create infrastructure that is beneficial to rural communities such as clinics, libraries, schools
Planned projects
Organic Farming
HIMSFA currently owns several hectares of land. With the support of local villagers, and donors like yourself, HIMSFA will introduce organic farming to the community, demonstrating that organic farming techniques can avoid chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and can provide bountiful and healthier harvests.
Volunteers Housing
HIMSFA is planning to build an eco friendly residence to house its volunteers. The foundation hopes to have the building finished by the beginning of 2021, depending on the funds and support available.
Goat Farming
The Foundation also aims to farm goats to provide economically sustainable income to carry out other projects. The certain profit will assist the community work.
Community Center
HIMSFA aims to build a community center. The community center will provide the community with an area to learn and develop their skills and interest in organic farming.
Community Clinic
Currently the village has no proper medical facility for the community. HIMSFA aims to provide a basic medical centre, staffed by a resident nurse who can also work in the community clinic built by the government.
History
In 2000 HIMSFA was first registered as an NGO with the Social Welfare Council in Kathmandu. The foundation focused on recognizing and awarding projects that had considerable impacts on the welfare and development of Nepali communities. In its 20 year history, the foundation has been engaged in projects more numerous to be summarised here. Please go to the full document for a detailed history of the organisation.

Incentives
Most philanthropists do not require a reward for their patronage. The satisfaction of helping a worthy project is normally enough to produce that much sought-after `warm glow´. However, HIMSFA will provide tea, accomodation and the opportunity for donors to be immortalised on the wall of the Community Centre! And of course, we will welcome you as the newest members of our thriving village community.
Thanks
To all our wonderful potential, and actual donors, Namatse! You are the reason we can smile and laugh in these uncertain times.
