Hi everyone, my name is Eric, and I never thought I’d be in a position to ask for help — but my family desperately needs it right now. As a single father I am drowning while trying to keep up with everything at once
On January 29th, 2025, my father passed away, leaving a hole in our hearts that words can’t describe. He was my mom’s world — her partner, protector, and best friend. Losing him has been devastating for all of us, but especially for my mom.
My mom was diagnosed with dementia, and since my dad’s passing, her condition has declined. She now requires 24-hour care from home aides just to stay safe and comfortable. While we wait for her survivor benefits and SSI to be approved, I’ve been covering all of her expenses — her care, food, and bills — on my own.
I’m a single father of an 11-year-old little girl trying to hold everything together while taking time off work to bring my mom to her doctor appointments and make sure she’s never alone, has food in her house, rent and utilities are paid for. While I’m doing everything I can, I have been trying to manage but it’s becoming impossible to keep up. The financial strain has been overwhelming, and I’m terrified of not being able to provide for both my mom and my child.
My mom has spent her life giving — she’s always been the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need. She’s warm, loving, and still tries to smile through her confusion. She deserves to live her days surrounded by care, dignity, and love — not financial worry.
I’ve created this GoFundMe to ask for help to catch up on personal bills and maintain my mom’s care until her benefits come through. Every dollar raised will go directly toward getting back on our feet, caregiving costs, medical bills, and household expenses.
If you can donate, share, or even send a kind message, it would mean more than words can express. Your support will help us keep my mom safe and cared for — and give our family just a little bit of breathing room during this painful time.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read our story and for showing compassion to a family just trying to stay afloat.
With love and gratitude,
Eric
