Help me build the Lebanon Scouts a space
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Nadim, I am a life scout in Troop 890 in Dallas, TX, and for my eagle project, I am fundraising to build the Scout Troop SDL-GDL Notre Dame de la Delivrance in Bikfaya, Lebanon (my hometown) a stand-alone space. The group will need this building to store the tools they frequently use for various community service projects and conduct their meetings as their growth outpaces the space they have available and as seasons change.
Lebanon has been facing many disastrous challenges during the past few years, from a financial collapse to a cataclysmic explosion that devastated more than half of Beirut ( the largest non-nuclear blast in history) to crippling corruption and, last but not least, the paralyzing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The benefits of scouting are critically important, especially for youth under duress.
It is important that they are able to continue growing as a contribution to their (and my) home village cannot be understated. They have empowered the young girls of our village by providing them with skills and leadership opportunities. They have collected clothes for donations, helped our local Saint Vincent de Paul association and church, and have helped plant community gardens. They’ve helped combat our country’s problem with trash by promoting recycling and sustainability. More importantly, they helped give children a way to socialize, develop self-confidence and vital life skills, and make friends when schools are not operating as normal.
I am reaching out to your generosity and your strong belief in the Lebanese youth to be the leaders for a more just and healthy future for Lebanon if they are only given the right tools and opportunities.
Thank you & Yours in Scouting!
