Hey everyone,
I never thought I’d have to make a GoFundMe — but right now, I really need your help.
I’ve lived in Canada for 8 years. This country became my home, my safe place, and the first place where I could live openly as a gay man . My biggest dream has always been to bring my mom here — to finally show her my life, my people, and the freedom I found.
My mom has never had the chance to visit me. And I can’t go back to Russia — not only because of the war, but because being openly gay there is dangerous. Homophobia is everywhere — from the laws to the streets. It’s not a place I can safely exist.
So, after I got my Canadian citizenship, I started meeting my mom once a year in countries where Russians don’t need a visa. It was our only way to stay connected. That was the plan again this year — until things changed.
In August, I lost my full-time job. I’ve been doing my best, picking up dance gigs to keep up with rent and expenses. But I can’t afford to stop working for a month and pay for our trip anymore.
We decided to apply for her Canadian visa instead, so she can finally come visit me for the first time in 8 years. I’ve already spent about $1,000 on paperwork and documents, and now we just need help covering her ticket from Russia to Canada — about 200,000 rubles (≈ $2,900 CAD).
I’m not getting any government support, and my income right now is just from performances.
For those who saw me in Miami — yes, I’m here now, but please understand: that trip was booked months ago, before I lost my job. I’m staying with a friend, not living in luxury — just trying to make things work while I figure out what’s next.
Bringing my mom to Canada means everything to me. After 8 long years apart, I finally want to show her the life I built — one where I can live freely, safely, and proudly.
Thank you for reading and supporting. Even a small contribution helps us get one step closer. ❤️
