The past couple of years haven’t been easy for my family. Not in a dramatic, movie-scene kind of way—but in the quiet, invisible way that slowly wears people down.
My dad’s been working longer hours than ever, trying to keep things afloat after the company downsized. He doesn’t complain, but I see it in his eyes when he gets home—tired, distracted, already thinking about tomorrow.
My mom tries to hold everything together. Between helping with school, cooking, checking on my grandparents, and managing all the small things that no one else sees, I think she’s forgotten what it feels like to relax. She hasn’t been on a real vacation in over six years.
And me? I’m 16. I’m supposed to be dreaming big, living in the moment, and laughing with friends. But more and more, I’ve been feeling like we’re all just stuck in this loop. Wake up, survive, sleep, repeat. The world keeps moving, but we're not really living in it.
We used to laugh more as a family. We used to go on small road trips, make bad jokes, get lost on purpose, and find something beautiful by accident.
That’s why this trip to Greece means more than just a vacation.
It’s a pause. A breath.
It’s a chance to remember who we are as a family, not just what we do.
To watch sunsets on a quiet beach. To eat fresh food with no rush. To smile for no reason. To be together, really together—not just in the same house, but in the same moment.
Greece isn’t just a destination for us.
It’s healing. It’s hope. It’s joy we forgot we needed.
And maybe, just maybe, it’s the reset we all deserve.
