My name is McKenzie.

My son is my entire world. I have been raising him on my own since 2017. His biological father lives out of state, and has not seen him since July of 2017 by his own choice, even when we lived in the same state, he chose not to have a relationship with him. During that time, he was also harmful toward me in ways no mother or person should ever have to endure.

Now, after more than 8 years of absence, he has suddenly filed in court to try and take my son away from the only life he knows, for no reason. My son is the brightest part of my life. He is loving, funny, full of curiosity, and deserves to grow up surrounded by stability, kindness, and family. Every day, I work hard to give him a safe home and a future filled with hope. The thought of him being pulled away from the life he knows — his siblings, his school, his community — breaks my heart, and I am determined to protect him with everything I have.

I have been blindsided, and the legal fight to protect my son is overwhelming financially and emotionally.
