City workers were going about their day when they noticed something horrifying: a dog tied to a fire hydrant, trembling uncontrollably. She was painfully thin, shaking, and standing on pure ice. She kept lifting her paws, one after the other, trying to escape the freezing ground beneath her. Clearly she had been there for a long time.
They immediately reached out to us for help. When we saw her, our hearts broke. All we could see was skin and bones. Her body showed clear signs that she had recently given birth- most likely used for breeding, then cruelly discarded once she was no longer “useful.” How could we turn away?
We named her Maya. She was rushed straight to the hospital for urgent supportive care. She is severely malnourished, weak, and fragile. She will need extensive medical treatment and long-term rehabilitation to stabilize her, rebuild her strength, and give her body a chance to heal. Her recovery will take time, patience, and significant resources, but she finally has a chance. Please consider helping us give Maya a true second chance at life. Donate today!
