My name is Maya, and I’m a single parent raising my 8-year-old son, Mase. Our journey together has been filled with both challenges and triumphs, especially since moving to a new city just a year ago. Finding a home for us here was a huge accomplishment, and it’s given us a sense of belonging and hope for the future. As a mother of a son with Autism, I know how important consistency and routine are for his growth and well-being. Our new start by the beach has allowed Mase to thrive and me to continue my teaching career, even though we don’t have immediate family nearby for support.
Recently, we’ve faced financial difficulties that have made it hard to keep up with our rent. Despite my best efforts and perseverance, I don’t qualify for most assistance programs and don’t receive any extra income to help make ends meet. With the new school year approaching, I’m reaching out to my community for help so that Mase and I can stay in our home. Keeping our home means Mase can remain in the same school, maintain his routines, and continue making progress. It also allows me to keep working and providing for our family as the sole provider.
We need to cover our rent by July 18th to avoid losing our home. Your support will help us maintain the stability and security that Mase needs to succeed. Even if a financial contribution can't be made, a share goes a long way. I sincerely thank you, in advance, for being part of our village and helping us continue this journey together.
