Support Max's Family, as they adapt to this senseless loss of life.

On the evening of September 16, Max — a student at North Island College and a dedicated staff member of the Students’ Union — was walking home from his night shift at the College Cafeteria.

While walking down Ryan Road, a steep and busy 8% grade hill identified by the local Cycling Coalition as a “Red” zone (high volume, high speed), Max was struck by a cyclist, riding on the sidewalk.

The collision left Max with a serious head injury, which he was not able to recover from.

He spent five days in the intensive care unit in Victoria and then some time on the trauma ward before a brain bleed resulted in brain death. Max was an organ donor for five families.

Max’s mother had been by his side every day, driving six hours round-trip in a rental vehicle to be with him and helped manage his care.

Max's family are now facing overwhelming medical, travel, and recovery-related expenses — and they need our help.

Please consider contributing to support Max’s end of life care. Every donation makes a difference.

Thank you for standing with Max's family.
