Help Mavis Stay in Memory Care

Hi, my name is Tammy and this is my Mom, Mavis. In 2022 my mom was diagnosed with Dementia. Over the last 3 years her progression has been rather quick. In July of this year Mom being at home was a safety concern. Mom loves to walk, she would take her dog on walks around their home multiple times a day. But then she started getting confused where she was and there were many times we would get a call from my dad that he couldn’t find her and we had to search. As the Dementia has progressed she has had hallucinations that people were trying to attack her and she would leave the house, most of the time at night and then walk into someone else home, but think she was at her house. My dad did his best to keep her home with him and take care of her, but with his own health issues, it was getting more and more difficult for him to follow her when she would leave the house. In September we started the process of applying for MA and getting mom on an elderly waiver to help pay for a memory care for her. We were able to get her into a memory care facility in October. They were very willing to work with us as we were still waiting for MA and the waiver. At this point me are still waiting on an MA decision so she can get the elderly waiver. After talking to the case worker this week they are saying it’s still going to be another 3-4 weeks before we have an answer. The facility is requiring the full payment for January. We have tried every which way we can think of to come up with this money. And although we can come up with a quarter of it we just can’t come up with all of it. If we don’t the facility will start the eviction process on my mom. I realize this time of year is very hard for everyone, financially, emotionally, mentally. If you could find it in you heart to help a woman who gave her family and friends so very much, helped us single mothers raise our children, watched every grand child without asking for a dime, and selflessly helped her family even in her time of need, you would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and lots of love to all!
