Travel to and from Clovis

Hi I am Matthew Gibbs mother in December starts the trial for my son who was killed on December 29 2023 in a hit and run accident in Clovis NM. We are trying to raise money so that my youngest daughter shyànn and I can make it to the trial in April. Trial has been postponed till April. Also trips to bring awareness to the City of things that need to change. We will be traveling also to place a memory cross on the corner and do a balloon release. There will be several times we will need to make the 4 hour drive .

Matthew was walking to work and it was between 1030 and 1055 pm. That is when a pickup truck driven by Collen Guthals struck him, and proceeded to run him over. After he was then moved to a dirt field where he was put facedown for approximately 2 hrs before someone called in thinking he was passed out. No he was DEAD. Collen Guthals knows the truth and I hope he knows God was with Matthew that night. My world changed in ways I was never prepared for. The gut wrenching nights I cry for hours longing for more time. My anxiety is so much worse that it makes me so sick. I panic if my phone ringings after midnight fear choking me.

My heart bleeds and my body is so exhausted. I know my baby is in a better place but the ripple of court hearings is only making my heart hurt more. I feel we are now victims of our court and justice system.

I want to be in court I want Collen to know he killed part of my heart when he did what he did that night. Matthews love lives on. Attorneys have put in a motion to dismiss and that takes every breathe out of my. The judge has now denied the two motions.My baby did not deserve such a horrible act to happen. The intense searing pain of his passing is undescribable.

Matthew was a bright person, high functioning autistic and had just wanted to help everyone.

I NEVER GOT TO SAY GOODBYE. I am lost, hurting and broken. I want to be Matthew's voice in the court room. He deserves that from me

Funds will be used for a Airbnb for the duration of the trial. We will use money for gas to get down there and then back home. It will pay for meals, drinks, and snacks.

Update: we still need to raise more money. We do have a hearing this month of February nothing fancy just to make sure everyone is making progress. Progress for us as a family need prayer I have put up post talking about how I don't want this to change me. I do not want to be bitter. And I mean it. I work daily to try to forgive and I am not there and I think God sees my struggle and understands. We are set to go to trial in April. Until then we want to keep sharing Matthew's story. CLOVIS NEEDS TO NOT TURN THEIR HEADS AWAY BUT LOOK AND KNOW COLLIN WHO KILLED MY SON IS STILL ON CLOVIS ROADS DRIVING. WE DON'T NEED SOMEONE ELSE TO DIE... HELP BRING US TO CLOVIS TO FIGHT FOR JUSTICE AND BRING CHANGE TO 14TH AND SYCAMORE.

I lost my done and nothing can bring him back, but we need make the roads safer in Clovis. No momma deserves this.
