Hello we are Matt and Katie Dalley! We have been married for 3 years and have loved it! For the last year and a half, Katie and I have been attempting to get pregnant. We love our nieces and nephews and have a deep desire to start our own family. Unfortunately, we have found that it’s not as easy for us. For the last few months we’ve been working with doctors to find out why.
After many tests, I was diagnosed with a genetics disorder called Klinefelter's Syndrome. Klinefelter's Syndrome is found through genetic tests that show an extra chromosome in my genetic makeup, so I have an extra X in my structure showing XXY, while a normal genetic make up is 46, XY. Klinefelter's Syndrome is quite common in men, normally 1 in every 500 - 750 men has the disorder. However, only about 25% of men are diagnosed with it. Because of this, not a lot is known about KS. It is also a spectrum disorder, meaning some symptoms will affect me more than others. One, for instance is that most men with KS struggle with infertility.
The only way that we will be able to have kids is through a surgery called MicroTESE followed with a special form of IVF. My MicroTESE operation is scheduled for January 27, 2022 and we hope to go through with this. But, this is a different journey than we ever expected to encounter and a much more expensive route as well. The MicroTESE will cost about $11,000 and IVF is about $10,000 as well. Because of these expenses we have set up this GoFundMe.
We are deeply grateful for anything you can donate to help and support us as we navigate this challenge in the best way we can. It’s taking a of effort emotionally, physically, and spiritually to be able to have children. We are doing everything in our power to earn money but we know that we won’t be able to do it alone. Most insurance companies only cover part of infertility and most, if not all won’t cover MicroTESE.
We do know that with your help, the help of our Heavenly Father and modern medical procedures available we will be able to have children. Please feel free to share this with others. We are grateful for you all! Thank you so much!
