Long story short, the guys asked me how much it would take to grow a beard for 6 months. I nominated $1k, thinking it was little chance of getting up. Clocked up $400 of pledges in 30 seconds so figured I may as well just get started.

United Way hosted Arkahna for a charity cooking event not too long ago, and their story and efforts resonated with me. Their focus areas ticked several of the boxes I was considering as the charity to donate to, so in the end it was an easy choice. Great bunch of people, great programs, and I'm comforted that my 6 months of misery will go towards a very worthy cause.

I'd encourage you to donate what you can to not only support the communities in WA, but to help convince my wife this was actually a wise and noble idea!
