In February of 2021, Matt was diagnosed with lung cancer. After numerous rounds of chemo and radiation followed by surgery, he was declared cancer-free in November of that same year.

A few months later, in April of 2022, Matt was diagnosed with throat cancer, he is currently undergoing more chemotherapy and radiation.

Matt is a tile contractor, and due to his illness and treatment, he has not been able to go to work for over a year and a half.

Matt and Susan have a son named Tyler at home who was diagnosed at birth with Trisomy 9P20, which requires 24/7 care. This is an extremely rare chromosomal syndrome in which a portion of the 9th chromosome appears three times instead of twice in the cells of the body. Only 0.1% of Trisomy conceptions will result in live birth with poor prognosis.

This fundraiser is specifically designed to generate much-needed funds so that the Darrah Family can continue to pay their bills while Matt continues to fight for his life.
