Help Matt and Family Through Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
On August 17th, 2025, we found out my amazing fiancé, Matt, has stage 3 laryngeal cancer of the vocal cord, moving into the thyroid. This isn't a simple cancer due to its size, growth, and spreading. A tumor board met to go over the best course of action for his specific cancer. They came back split in half. 50% of them want him to just do radiation, the other 50% want him to do both radiation and chemo. Due to being split, they have decided to do a PET scan from his head to his knees to see if it has spread anywhere else. Either way, he will start radiation in a few short weeks. The side effects of just radiation alone will make it so he needs a feeding tube, and he will more than likely lose his ability to speak due to it being on his vocal cord. He will get sick, he will be in pain, and won't be able to do much. If he has to do both, the degree of sickness worsens, to him losing 10% of his body weight. He will be weak, tired, in pain, and super susceptible to any sickness.

On top of this, he had an L5-S1 back discectomy back in January. This surgery failed... he has been in worse pain since. His surgeon says he will eventually need a 3-tier fusion of his spine to get rid of the pain. This is up to a 6-month recovery time. But he is unable to do this surgery as you are not allowed to have surgery while undergoing cancer treatment. So he remains with back issues on top of going through treatment.

This is a man who has helped raise 3 beautiful boys as his own. He does homework with them every night for hours, he will go outside with them to throw a ball, even if he is in pain from his back surgery. If they need it, he provides it. He will stay up for 40 hours straight to make sure our oldest is treated right and the hospital doesn't brush him off (ended up having Lyme disease diagnosed early). He gets up every morning to make sure coffee is ready for me. He will make sure my lunch bag is packed and ready. He is the calm in our house, never raising his voice and always making us laugh with his silly analogies, voices, and picking on us when we need to let loose. He makes sure the driveway is shoveled even though it kills his back. He will do ANYTHING for me and our boys.

If things couldn't get worse, we are expecting our sweet baby boy on Sept 18th as a scheduled c-section. For at least weeks after this, I won't be able to do much as I have to recover as well.

Matt is mentally struggling with all of this. The thought that his son won't be able to ever hear his voice, that his son may never know who he was. Matt may not even be able to be in the operating room when our son is born because of treatment. He isn't worried about himself through all this. He is worried that me and all of our boys won't be okay. He is broken that he may not be Mr. Homework, or be able to help the boys during basketball season. He has ALWAYS been there for us, now it's time we can be there for him.

Financially, he is worried we won't be okay, as we don't have savings left from him being out due to back surgery and I have had a rough pregnancy and been out of work for months. I don't want him worried about that, as he needs to focus on beating this, and being able to watch our kids grow.
But, with all this being said, he is going to be out of work for even longer due to the constant treatment he will be receiving. I will also have to take time off to care for him, even after my leave for the baby ends, because unfortunately, we don't have family that is close to help.

If you could donate, any little bit would help us SO much. It would take off some of the burden of the bills and life expenses so we truly can focus on him and getting better.

This isn't something we ever thought we would need, let alone want to be asking for. So even if money isn't something you're able to do, we would also be grateful for food being dropped off or freezer meals for a couple of weeks while I am still recovering as well.
