Young Australian woman Tash, who was working with her parents at the petting zoo to the Bondi Chanukkah celebration, had no idea what to do when the shooting began. But when she saw Matilda's little sister Summer, everything became clear — she needed to protect her and keep her calm. Tash gathered Summer close, hid with her, and stayed by her side. Thanks to her courage, both survived.
Tash never sought recognition or thanks. She didn’t even come forward when Summer’s father finally found his younger daughter. It was only weeks later, when Summer was able to share her story of surviving the attack, that she mentioned a young woman with red hair who had kept her safe the entire time.
The family immediately began searching for this woman. Just days ago, they were finally able to find Tash and her mother, Ally, hug them and thank them for saving their daughter’s life. It was only then when we learned that, at the very same time, Ally was also protecting another little girl.
Let us join Matilda’s family in thanking these two brave and humble women and express our gratitude as a community.
