My name is Elizabeth Garcia, and I am the grandmother of my precious grandson, Mason Hernandez Garcia.
Many of you have been following Mason’s story and have supported our family through the unimaginable tragedy that began on January 9th, 2026. On that day, my 6-year-old grandson was found beaten and unresponsive due to horrific domestic violence at the hands of my daughter’s boyfriend. Mason suffered devastating injuries, including a broken arm, leg, and shoulder, along with severe brain trauma.
Despite everything he endured, Mason fought with incredible strength for weeks in the ICU. From the moment he was born, Mason has always been a fighter. He was born a triplet, but tragically his brother and sister did not survive. Mason was our miracle — the only survivor — and he carried that same strength and light throughout his life.
Our sweet Mason passed away on February 27, 2026, from the injuries he suffered.
There are no words that can fully describe the heartbreak our family is experiencing. Mason was a beautiful, loving little boy with autism and the purest soul. He was incredibly happy, full of life, and a true beacon of light to everyone who knew him. Mason loved people deeply and showed love freely to everyone around him.
One of Mason’s greatest joys was singing and dancing. Music made him light up. Any time he had the chance to perform, he did it with pure happiness and excitement. Whether it was singing along to a song or dancing without a care in the world, Mason’s joy was contagious. His smile, his laughter, and his love for life touched everyone who met him.
He deserved a long, happy life surrounded by love.
We are now preparing to lay Mason to rest and celebrate the beautiful life he gave us during his six short years.
This GoFundMe, which was originally created to help support Mason during his hospitalization, is now being updated to help our family with funeral arrangements, medical expenses from his time in the ICU, and the many unexpected costs that have come with this tragedy.
