A Call for Support from Our Global Muslim Family

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Imagine losing a loved one and having no place to lay them to rest according to your faith. This is the difficult reality our small Muslim community in Anguilla could face without your support.

Anguilla, a small, beautiful island in the Caribbean, is home to a dedicated Muslim community, established in 1997. The Islamic Centre of Anguilla (Masjid An-Nur) is the only Muslim place of worship on the island. For over two decades, it has been the spiritual home of our community. Masjid An-Nur serves as a sanctuary where Muslims worship, learn, and grow together in faith. Despite our small numbers—only about 50 Muslims among a population of 14,000—we have remained steadfast in our commitment to living by our deen.

A Wake-Up Call We’ll Never Forget

Until recently, we had never faced the loss of a Muslim in our community—but that changed in the most unexpected and heartbreaking way.

A brother, who had been Christian his whole life, embraced Islam and said his shahadah with full sincerity. Just one day later, he passed away.

But because Anguilla has no Muslim cemetery, we couldn’t secure an Islamic burial for him. His Christian family wanted to proceed with their own funeral services—and with no dedicated Muslim space, we had no way to insist otherwise.

We were heartbroken. Despite him dying as a Muslim, we couldn’t fulfill one of his most basic rights—being buried as a Muslim. That moment made one thing painfully clear: we need a Muslim burial ground now.

Why We Need Your Help

Faithful Fulfillment: In Islam, proper burial practices are a sacred obligation.

Community Integrity: A dedicated cemetery preserves our identity and honors our loved ones.

Future Generations: This cemetery will ensure that future Muslims in Anguilla have a dignified resting place.

Our Goal: $60,000 USD for a Burial Ground

We aim to raise $60,000 USD to purchase and establish a 1.5-acre plot of land located just 12 kilometers from the Masjid. This amount will allow us to:

Acquire the Land that meets our current and future needs.

Prepare the Land—clearing, leveling, and creating a peaceful environment.

Install Fencing and Security to protect and honor the space.

Build Basic Infrastructure such as pathways, shaded areas, and spaces for Janazah prayers.

Provide Ongoing Maintenance to keep the cemetery clean and respected.

Cover Administrative Costs like legal work, permits, and documentation.

Alhamdulillah, we have found suitable land. With your help, we can finally give Muslims in Anguilla a proper place to return to Allah in peace and dignity.
