Hi, my name is Wajiha, and I am reaching out with a heartfelt request for Maryam and Waseem, our dear friends. Maryam and her husband, Waseem, are both blind, raising a young daughter in Pakistan under incredibly difficult circumstances. From the very beginning, we’ve been by Maryam’s side, supporting her schooling, helping with her college education, and even covering her wedding expenses, all in the hope of giving her every opportunity for a stable and secure future.

Today, Maryam works part-time teaching Braille to blind students. She is paid on a daily wage basis, meaning if she doesn’t attend work, she doesn’t get paid. Her position is temporary, with a contract that must be renewed every three months, and there’s a long government approval process for her wages. Often, months pass before she receives her pay, leaving her family struggling to meet even the most basic needs.

Waseem, her husband, works at a college as an operator of JAWS software (a specialized tool for blind people). Together, they earn only about 200 CAD (approximately 40,000 PKR) per month, which barely covers their rent, let alone the daily needs of their family. The uncertainty of both of their incomes has made it incredibly difficult for them to plan for the future, let alone build a stable home where their young daughter can feel secure.

Despite our years of support, we now find ourselves unable to help them further. Our greatest wish is to help Maryam and Waseem build a small, safe home—a place of their own where they can finally feel stable, and, most importantly, a place where their daughter can grow up with the security of a permanent roof over her head. However, after years of providing for them, we simply cannot do this alone.

This is why we are humbly asking for your help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to securing a permanent home for Maryam, Waseem, and their daughter. Your kindness and generosity would mean the world to them and would provide a chance for a future free from the uncertainty they’ve known for so long.
