I'm starting this GoFundMe page to help my great aunt and tribal elder, Mary Jane Charlo. Mary Jane hit a deer the evening before Thanksgiving on Hwy 93 and totaled her vehicle. She is safe, with no injuries and credits her old Subaru for her safety and her guardian spirits.

My aunt is 76 years old. She is a Yaya, a cultural advisor, a cancer survivor, and a member of the Selis Qlispe Elders Advisory Committee.

She works at Early Head Start in St. Ignatius, "Es Kw' Alimi Newewlstn" ("Growing Words"). She drives to work from Arlee. Each job she has had with CSKT for 32 years, she has worked teaching tribal values and culture.

Mary Jane worked so incredibly hard over the years to acquire a reliable vehicle. Helping her acquire another Subaru will ensure she has a vehicle for her cultural work and for maintaining independence and accessing essential services such as healthcare and groceries.

Mary Janes car was a little older and because of that she was only able to acquire liability coverage. With her insurance payout she has around 4k to put towards the car along with whatever we are able to raise here. In addition, she had just spent a chunk of money putting in a new transmission.

My aunt desires to continue her work, and I am trying to assist her, as an elder, in raising a little extra money to buy a new (used) Subaru so that she is able to continue her important work for the CSKT. Thank you!
