Help Mary and Tom Rebuild Their Lives After Fire
Donation protected
I'm Rachal and my parents, Mary and Tom, need your help. On the night of Tues 1/14, their home suffered a catastrophic fire. Thankfully, they made it out in time and are safe. They have the clothes on their backs but little else. This is the home they've been living in for 38 years.
To make things more challenging, my dad is disabled. He had a severe stroke about 14 years ago. He has limited mobility and the house was set up for him to use the bathroom/shower and get around safely. He is paralyzed on his right side and he has limited speaking capabilities. Their home was a ranch (without stairs) and it provided my dad with a sense of independence.
My mom is his caregiver. She left her job after his stroke to help make sure he's well cared for. She is a very giving individual and the loss of a safe, warm home is heartbreaking. They live on a fixed income.
This home has been their safe haven for years and our family is overwhelmed, fearful, and exhausted. This journey for stability will take many grueling months of dealing with their insurance company.
Any help you are able to offer will go directly to making sure Mary and Tom are safe, warm, and protected for the days and weeks to come. This process is painfully slow and traumatizing.
It's really hard for my family to ask for help and so I am asking for them. Please, if you are able, any support is greatly appreciated.
