From Courtrooms and Human Rights advocacy to Displacement Tents: Mahmoud's Story from Gaza.

The morning sun once streamed through the windows of my law office in Gaza, illuminating case files and legal textbooks. Those rays represented hope—hope I brought back from Washington, D.C., where I earned my Master's degree in International Legal Studies from American University.Despite my professor warning, "With your qualifications, you could work anywhere in the world," I chose to return to Gaza. where I believed my education could serve those who needed it most. The Human Rights Council and UN Simulation Program I founded became the first of its kind in Gaza, training 1,500 young people eager to understand human rights and international law. My Qanoon Law Firm grew from a small office into a beacon of hope, with Palestine's first private Pro Bono program helping women fighting for inheritance rights and families navigating occupation bureaucracy. I remember Fatima, a widow whose case we won against brothers-in-law trying to seize her home. "You've given my children a future," she said, words that sustained me through long nights and frustrations.

Then came the bombardment—different from anything before. The intensity signaled something far more devastating than a mere "operation."The universities where I taught were reduced to rubble. Human rights organizations shut down. My law firm ceased to exist when its building collapsed.
We fled in the night, my wife and I carrying our youngest children, the older ones clutching small backpacks of possessions.Over 18 months, we've relocated seven times, each move stripping away dignity and normalcy.
Now we live in a makeshift tent near Khan Younis shore—the same beach where we once took our children to play.
Hunger has become our constant companion—not missing a meal, but deep, gnawing hunger making it impossible to think of anything else. I watch my children grow thinner, their eyes larger in gaunt faces. My wife and I give our portions to them. At night, looking at the stars, I try to reconcile the human rights defender I was with the desperate father I am now.The irony is crushing—I who taught others about Geneva Conventions now live the very violations I once documented. Yet even here, the lawyer in me instinctively documents and analyzes. Today, I focus on finding food for my children. On keeping them warm. On preserving their dignity in circumstances designed to strip it.

Urgent Help Needed We are seeking to raise 35,000 to help this struggling family survive and maintain their dignity under unimaginable circumstances.

Tfunds are being directed towards securing temporary shelter for the family. This aims to provide them with basic living conditions that are more stable and humane than the current tent accommodations, as they await potential evacuation opportunities. Additionally, the funds are allocated to provide immediate humanitarian assistance, including food, clean water, hygiene, and essential supplies for the family and assisting in procuring essential items for the children, including clothing, and daily necessities, particularly for the youngest child, who is 9 months. A big portion is also designated to cover evacuation-related expenses to leave Gaza, such as permit fees, visas, plane tickets, transportation, and temporary housing upon arrival.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help save this family from unimaginable circumstances.. Let us stand together for humanity. For justice, For a future that these innocent children deserve.
