Help Aunt Martha Save Her Home and Inherited Land

My name is Donna Scott and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my aunt, Martha Scott Searles, and our entire family.

Martha recently lost her home and the land she inherited from her parents — a devastating loss not only for her but for all of us. This land has been in our family for generations. It’s part of a place we lovingly call Scottsville, a road and community built on the legacy of our ancestors.

In 2012, Martha became a widow. That’s when the struggle began.

Since then, life has been incredibly hard for her. She’s battled health crisis after health crisis:

• 2018 – Open heart surgery

• 2020 – Survived COVID-19

• 2022 – Neck surgery

• 2025 – Back surgery that left her with limited mobility and pain

Each time she fought through, she did it with grace and faith — but also mounting medical bills and financial pressure.

In a moment of survival, Martha made a difficult decision: she took out a loan using her home and inherited land as collateral. Unfortunately, due to her declining health and limited income, she couldn’t keep up the payments. And now, both her home and the land her parents left her have been sold.

We’re trying to raise $100,000 to help buy back Martha’s home and land and preserve our family legacy.

This isn’t just about a piece of property. This is about a widow, a sister, a mother, a fighter, a grandmother and an aunt, and the land that was meant to be her safe place for life. It’s about protecting what’s ours — something that was passed down by blood, love, and hard work.

We’re asking for your help — whether it’s $5, $50, or just a share — to help bring Martha’s home back and keep our family land in the hands of our family.
