Marta Monterroso is my friend, and she’s facing unimaginable hardship. Her husband, the main provider for their family, was recently deported, leaving Marta and her two daughters to fend for themselves. Despite the challenges, Marta was doing her best to keep her family together and make ends meet.

Today, April 12, tragedy struck again. While Marta was in her room with one of her daughters, her other daughter ran in saying there was smoke. Marta rushed to the living room and saw the other side of her house engulfed in flames. It was too late to save anything. She managed to get her daughters out safely, but the fire destroyed their trailer and even their cars. Now, Marta and her girls have lost their home and everything they owned.
