On July 4th, during a protest at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Maricela Rueda was arrested for speaking out against the injustices of the immigrant detention system. She is currently incarcerated for taking a courageous stand in defense of dignity and justice. Maricela has always been a tireless advocate for human rights. Maricela is a loving mother, a daughter, a sister, and a loyal friend. Her arrest has left her family facing sudden and overwhelming challenges. Maricela’s young daughter is now without her mother’s daily love and care, and her family must also manage her estate and responsibilities while navigating the uncertainty ahead. El 4 de julio, durante la protesta en el Centro de Detención Prairieland en Alvarado, Maricela Rueda fue arrestada por alzar la voz contra las injusticias del sistema de detención de inmigrantes. Actualmente se encuentra encarcelada por su valiente postura en defensa de la dignidad y la justicia. Maricela es mucho más que los titulares: es una madre amorosa, una hija, hermana, y una amiga leal que siempre ha estado presente para quienes la necesitan.

Su arresto ha dejado a su familia enfrentando retos repentinos y abrumadores.
