I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of a dear friend of mine, Maricela, who is currently facing one of the most difficult moments of her life.

Maricela is a devoted wife and mother of five children. Recently, her world was turned upside down when her husband was detained at an immigration detention facility, leaving her to navigate everything alone during an already fragile time. She is postpartum, recovering from a C-section and the removal of her tubes, both physically and emotionally, while still caring for all five of her children on her own.

Because of her recovery, Maricela is unable to work, yet the bills continue to pile up rent, utilities, daily necessities, and most urgently, legal fees. The cost of an immigration attorney is overwhelming, and the debt is growing quickly. Her only goal right now is to raise $5,000 to help cover attorney fees so her husband has a fighting chance to come home to his family.

Maricela is doing everything she can to stay strong for her children, but no one should have to carry this much on their own especially while healing and caring for newborn life. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward legal expenses and helping keep this family together during this incredibly painful time.

Estoy creando esta campaña de GoFundMe en nombre de una amiga muy querida, Maricela, quien está atravesando uno de los momentos más difíciles de su vida.

Maricela es una esposa y madre dedicada de cinco hijos. Recientemente, su mundo cambió por completo cuando su esposo fue detenido en un centro de detención de inmigración, dejándola sola para enfrentar esta situación tan dolorosa. Ella se encuentra en etapa posparto, recuperándose de una cesárea y de una cirugía para la remoción de las trompas, tanto física como emocionalmente, mientras cuida sola de sus cinco hijos.

Debido a su recuperación, Maricela no puede trabajar en este momento, pero los gastos continúan acumulándose: renta, servicios, necesidades básicas del hogar y, lo más urgente, los honorarios legales. El costo del abogado de inmigración es muy alto y la deuda sigue creciendo. Su meta principal es reunir $5,000 dólares para poder cubrir parte de los gastos legales y así darle a su esposo la oportunidad de regresar a casa con su familia.

Maricela está haciendo todo lo posible por mantenerse fuerte por sus hijos, pero nadie debería enfrentar una carga tan grande en soledad, especialmente mientras se recupera y cuida de un recién nacido. Cualquier donación, sin importar la cantidad, será destinada directamente a los gastos legales y a ayudar a mantener unida a esta familia en este momento tan difícil.
