Hi, my name is Natalia Nelson, and I’m starting this GoFundMe to help my mom, Mariam Khan, and my younger siblings during an incredibly difficult time. It is very hard for us to put this out there especially around Christmas and this situation has really broke our spirits. My mom is currently being evicted due to the fact that my siblings’ father’s name is on the deed to the home, while hers is not. Even though she has lived there while paying all the bills and mortgage in his name and cared for the children, he is forcing them out without giving her enough time to find another place to live. With multiple children to care for, this sudden displacement has left her in a devastating position.

Finding housing right now is extremely difficult, especially on short notice and with the costs of rent, security deposits, and moving expenses. My mom simply cannot afford everything at once while still providing for her kids’ basic needs.

We are also facing a heartbreaking situation with our dogs. My mom and their father bought the dogs together, and they are part of our family. Because of the eviction and housing restrictions, we are being pressured to give them up. No shelters or rentals are willing to take them, and we are being told there are no other options especially for our older dog. While the younger dog may be able to be rehomed, the thought of losing both of our dogs is devastating.

In this desperate time of need we are asking for help to:

    •    Cover emergency housing and rent

    •    Pay security deposits and moving costs

    •    Help my mom stabilize and keep her children together
