I am trying to help my big sister, Maria Urban (Vasquez) rebuild her home. She is one of the most giving, loving, honest, and hardworking people I know. She has always supported her family, giving selflessly, no matter what she was going through herself. She always lived modestly and within her means, and over the years, she has faced and overcome many challenges, often on her own.

She was encouraged to move to Florida, uprooting her life in Chicago and working tirelessly to make that dream a reality, and worked incredibly hard to overcome challenges with her new Florida home over the years.

Last night, her home was devastated by the storm, even though she lives inland, far from areas typically impacted by disasters. I know she is safe and healthy and all the material things can be replaced but also know that it won't be that easy for her and she's too modest to ask for help. Now, with nowhere to go and the likelihood of facing months of challenges with insurance—if it pays out at all—I’m reaching out for help. I don’t usually ask for favors, but today I am. Every dollar counts and will help spare her the heartache of trying to navigate this difficult time alone.
