On June 7th, Maria L. made the heartbreaking decision to stop walking her children—Jesus and Maria—to school, even though it's just a 15-minute walk from their home. With the surge in ICE activity across Los Angeles, she no longer feels safe leaving her house. Her children, terrified of being separated from their mother, have also remained home.

Even before the raids, Maria's husband was only working part-time, three days a week. He has since been laid off. Maria had been searching for work, but now can't risk stepping outside. The family has been relying on support from her brother—who has also lost his job due to the fallout of these immigration enforcement actions.

Maria and her family urgently need help covering rent, utilities, and groceries while they ride out this wave of fear and uncertainty. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps ensure they remain safe, housed, and fed.

El 7 de junio, María L. tomó la desgarradora decisión de dejar de llevar a sus hijos —Jesús y María— a la escuela, a pesar de estar a solo 15 minutos a pie de su casa. Con el aumento de la actividad de ICE en Los Ángeles, ya no se siente segura al salir de casa. Sus hijos, temerosos de ser separados de su madre, también se han quedado en casa.

Incluso antes de las redadas, el esposo de María solo trabajaba medio tiempo, tres días a la semana. Desde entonces, ha sido despedido. María había estado buscando trabajo, pero ahora no puede arriesgarse a salir. La familia ha dependido del apoyo de su hermano, quien también perdió su trabajo debido a las consecuencias de estas medidas de control migratorio.
