My sister was 24 weeks pregnant when she was taken to the hospital experiencing symptoms of pre-eclampsia. Soon after, her condition worsened. Her organs began shutting down, and her liver was extremely inflamed. On December 9th, she was rushed into an emergency C-section, which was needed to save her life. Her daughter was born premature at 24 weeks and will remain in the NICU until she is able to sustain life on her own.
As of now, Maria and her daughter are stable, but will be on an extremely long, uncertain road to recovery. Right now, it is important for Maria and Roberto to rest and focus on being strong for their new miracle for the following months that she will need to stay in the hospital. Every moment they have with their baby girl is precious, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to be there for each other and their baby girl. With help from family, friends, and loved ones, Maria and Roberto will be able to stay close to their baby girl and focus on her recovery.
