We are a group of neighbors supporting neighbors that have been impacted by immigration enforcement.

On August 8th, Nilson, Brazilian father to two year old Isabella, stepfather to Daniel, 9, and Olivia, 6, and partner to Marcia, was detained by immigration enforcement in Somerville, MA. He was swiftly taken from Plymouth detention center to a detention center in Louisiana and due to lack of funds for lawyers and the potential for him to stay in detention for an indeterminate amount of time, he made the hard decision to self deport back to Brazil. Nilson moved to the US in 2004 and for all these years worked as a landscaper in the summers and in snow removal in the winter. He is a hard working man, dedicated to his family and community. His deportation is a great loss to our community.

Marcia is now left to care for her three children as well as pay for rent, bills, and her own legal representation. Nilson and Marcia used to do all errands together and Nilson was bringing most of the income for family expenses.

Marcia and the kids need their community now more than ever, please consider donating and sharing with your communities. If you can't donate yourself, spreading the word is very helpful as well.
