We are writing this with heavy hearts and trembling hands. Our beloved Emmanuel—Manny to us—is just 32 years old. A newly married husband. A cherished son. A loving brother. A kind cousin. A joy-filled grandson. A gentle soul who has always quietly loved and supported everyone around him.
Six years ago, Manny had a kidney removed. At the time, we were told the tumor was likely benign. He was only 26. Young, full of life, he went on living, loving, and building his future. He bounced back like the strong, hopeful young man he’s always been. He married in 2021, and together he and his wife, dreamed of children, a small home, and the quiet kind of happiness.
But everything changed again in April 2025.
Manny was diagnosed with stage 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
The cancer had come back—not only in the only kidney he has left, but also in the very space where his removed kidney once was.
And worse—it had already spread to his lungs, brain, and lymph nodes.
It is hard to describe what it feels like to receive news like that. Our world stopped. His wife’s hands went cold. His mother wept without words. Every single person in our family has been shaken by this. Manny is the soul of our family—quiet, gentle, deeply good. And now we’re all gathered around this storm, doing everything we can.
Doctors have confirmed this is an aggressive, recurring, metastatic cancer.
He needs urgent immunotherapy and targeted radiation for his brain lesion.
Immunotherapy is our hope. It is the only light we have.
But it comes at a devastating cost—USD 70,000.
It’s a long journey, and it’s urgent.
Why we're asking for help:
We are a simple family doing everything we can—but this is beyond us.
Manny has not given up. Everyone—from his wife, parents, and siblings to cousins, aunts, and uncles—is deeply involved in caring, supporting, and praying for him. This treatment is far beyond what we can manage alone.
Manny doesn’t show it, but he’s scared. Even in this situation, he thinks more about comforting us than himself. He tries to stay strong for everyone around him. He worries most about his mother, his sister, and his wife—who loves him deeply. That’s just who he is: gentle, kind, and always putting others first.
Even our grandmother, who rarely sheds a tear, has been quietly crying since the diagnosis. She prays every single day—for her grandson to live, and for all of us to have more time with him. We are holding on to faith, and to each other.
He has so much to live for, and we believe—with treatment and your help—he will survive and thrive.
Your support is not just financial—it is time, it is life, it is hope.
How you can help:
• DONATE: Any amount, no matter how small, helps immensely.
• SHARE: Please share this with anyone who can help—friends, prayer groups, communities.
• PRAY: Most importantly, please pray for Manny. He needs all our prayers more than anything.
In our family, Manny has been the quiet strength behind so many smiles. Now he needs us—and we need you.
We believe in love, in prayer, and in the power of people coming together.
Thank you for standing with us in this fight.
With all our hearts,
Manny’s family
An update!
I don’t know how to begin this except with gratitude.
When we first started this fundraiser, we were scared. We didn’t know if anyone would see us, hear us, or care. Your support over the last year has meant more to us than we can ever express.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Thank you for your generosity.
Thank you for your prayers.
Thank you for reminding us that we are not walking this road alone.
Over the past year,
Manny has completed 17 sessions of immunotherapy and has continued treatment for his cancer. It has been a long journey filled with hospital visits, scans, uncertainty, and difficult side effects. There have been days of fatigue, pain, skin changes, and fear. Through it all, your support has carried us forward.
We recently received the results of his latest PET-CT scan, and we are grateful to share some encouraging news. The doctor described the results as very encouraging. The scan shows a further reduction in the size and activity of the tumor in his remaining kidney. The lesions in his lungs have continued to shrink, and there is no evidence of any new active disease elsewhere in his body. The brain lesion that was treated has remained stable, and several affected lymph nodes have shown continued improvement.
While this is not the end of the journey, it is a moment of hope for our family. We know there is still a long road ahead, and Manny will continue to need treatment, monitoring, and care. But today, we are thankful for progress.
To everyone who has donated, shared our story, sent a message, or kept Manny in your prayers, please know that your kindness has made a real difference in our lives.
Many of you have never met him, yet you chose to stand with us during one of the hardest seasons we have ever faced. We will never forget that.
Please continue to keep Manny in your prayers as he continues treatment and recovery.
With love and gratitude,
Veronica
