I’m writing with a heavy heart on behalf of my best friend and childhood friend, Amanda, who recently lost her beloved mother, Paula, after a courageous three-year battle with metastatic cancer.

Amanda is an only child, and in the midst of her grief, she has been left with an overwhelming amount of responsibility—emotionally, legally, and financially. While mourning the loss of the most important person in her life, she now faces the challenge of trying to hold everything together.

What Amanda is Facing:

• Her Childhood Home: The home where Amanda grew up—the place filled with a lifetime of memories—is at risk of foreclosure unless she can keep up with the mortgage.

• Legal Fees: Because there was no will and Amanda was not listed on her mother’s documents, she now faces significant legal costs to transfer everything into her name. Without this, so much of what her mother left behind could be lost.

• Medical Bills & Living Costs: In addition to the lingering medical and final expenses from her mother’s illness, Amanda is managing her own rent and household bills.

Through it all, Amanda has remained strong. She’s always been the kind of person who shows up for others, but asking for help has never come easily to her. That’s why I’m reaching out on her behalf—from the bottom of my heart.
