Returning to our roots!

Hello! My name is Mande, and I want to share a little about my family and why this journey is so important to us.

I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with my four incredible boys. All four of my boys are autistic, each with their own special needs, and my greatest hope is to give them the best life possible. Recently, we have faced some of our hardest challenges, especially with the passing of my husband in January 2023 due to complications from a lifelong medical condition. Losing him has been unimaginably hard, and navigating life without his support has deeply affected all of us.

This campaign initially started as a way to help us secure reliable transportation. Thanks to the $1,240 raised, we managed to get a new vehicle, which has made a difference. But now, more than ever, we need your help to make a life-changing move. We are seeking to relocate closer to their father’s family in Mississippi—where we believe we can find stronger support, stability, and the love of extended family to help us heal and grow.

Moving back to Mississippi would mean more than just a change of scenery; it’s about creating a safe, nurturing environment where my children can flourish. With similar programs to SFPS, they will be able to continue their growth in medical programs, music programs, e-sports, and school clubs. Being part of the Legacies of Mississippi State University, I am already thinking ahead to their future—seeking the best educational opportunities and stability that our roots in Mississippi can offer.

The funds we’re asking for will help us cover moving expenses—transportation and getting a new place to call home. Our house is currently on a short-sale or at risk of foreclosure, and this move is essential for our family’s emotional and financial well-being. Any additional support will help us secure resources and services in our new community that can give my children the caring, stability, and opportunities they deserve.

This isn’t just a move; it’s a chance for renewal, for healing, and for hope. Your kindness and support mean everything to us. Even sharing our story with others could open doors for us we can’t see right now.
