Help mama get to Minnesota!

Hi, my name is Andrea and this fundraiser is for my mother, Barbara.

In late September, my mother had a heart attack. She currently lives in my hometown of Ocala, Florida and doesn’t have anyone to help with her day-to-day life.

Her health has been up and down for a number of years and since I live in Minnesota, I have not been able to observe her closely and this heart attack truly brought to light how alone and vulnerable she has been, and how she should not be living on her own. I flew down to Florida when she was hospitalized and discovered that she had been unable to care for herself or her home for quite some time, resulting in the need to hire a deep cleaning company at an incredibly high cost. Additionally, this scare prompted us into the realization that she truly cannot take care of herself alone and therefore, we would like to move her up to Minnesota so that we can be closer together.

For anyone who knows me, you know the story of my and my mothers life. It has not been easy. My mother has felt alone for all of her life and has difficulty asking for help, because she has historically been preyed upon and has learned to rely on herself. However, she is at the stage of her life where she can no longer be on her own, and it weighs heavily on my heart to care for her in a way that she has not yet experienced in her lifetime. She is a sweet woman who has been dealt a rough hand and I want to ensure that whatever time she has left on this earth is full of love, warmth and community.

While I would love to be able to pay for her house cleaning and subsequent move to Minneapolis, I am currently all-in on building my second salon and all of my expendable income is tied up in that project. If you know me, you know how difficult it is for me to ask for help for myself or my own family, but that is what I’m asking. Any contributions that you are able to give is so greatly appreciated and will go directly to paying for my mother’s costs of closing out her life in Florida and coming to Minnesota so that she can be close to me and her granddaughter.
