- I
An old woman moves through her home, trying to suppress the loss of her husband. Visions of her past and the loneliness that comes with it affect her more than she knows.
Hi! My name is Liam Downey and I am an up-and-coming filmmaker who is a part of a passionate and talented Filmmaking Cohort studying Film and Video Production at SAIT. We will be creating my first ever short film called Tintinnabulate set for production in February 2025. My team and I are hoping to support its fulfillment through crowdfunding and personal investment.
The story will follow Grandma, an old, disheveled, and grief stricken woman who must deal with the daunting reality of being alone. Dreams and reality begin to mesh together as Grandma begins having moments of paralysis and terrifying visions that begin to corrupt her day to day existence.
Tintinnabulate is an exploration of isolation, grief, and memory. The film invites the audience into the fragmented mind of Grandma, a woman grappling with the void left by her past, represented by her decaying surroundings.
As a director, my aim is to explore two main themes that resonates with me and my generation: loneliness and acceptance. Through creating this script, I was able to digest my own grief with the passing of my uncle and create my vision of hopeful peace in his final days.
I am so grateful that this production will be supported in crew by the entire class of more than 30 people, our biggest production yet. We are stepping forward with ambition, optimism, and hope.
